Starting from August 1, 2025, all customers will need to verify their cards before an invoice is created, be it the STAMP fee charge or the VAT pre-authorization. This is in accordance with the new regulations of European security standards (SCA – Strong Customer Authentication). It is aimed to further protect customers from potential fraud.

How does it work?

When the invoice is being issued, you will receive a message from your bank to validate the pre-authorization. It could be one of the following, depending on the bank:

  • In-App Approval of the Bank

  1. Receive a push notification from their bank app.

  2. open the app and approve the transaction (possibly with biometrics or PIN).

  • One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS or Email

  1. Receive a code via SMS or email from their bank.

  2. the store will need to enter this code into their computer.

The new security procedure will guarantee a better in-store experience, as customers will no longer need to hand over their card info to the store, in the meantime prevent errors or refund rejections due to non-compliant cards.
